In my last post I told you I went to DC for a Green Dot Training, so all of this week’s posts will be on restaurants I ate at while training. Next week I will return to Charlottesville, VA posts.
Cocorico
Cocorico
Driving in circles trying to find my hotel, I happened upon CocoRico. I was very excited when I went in because they had Alfajor, a peruvian cookie that I LOVE. It’s two shortbread cookies with dulce de leche between them, and covered in powdered sugar. I had only had them once before, my friend’s grandmother made them. Cocorico’s cookies were almost just like them! I also had actual food while I was there. I ordered ¼ Chicken with Plantains and Yucca. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly; it was juicy and falling off the bone. The yucca and plantains were great as well, neither one being cooked to hard. The meal came with two sauces, a spicy salsa verde and a yellow sauce that was like honey mustard.
I really enjoyed the food and would go back again. If you want to know more about Cocorico you can check out the website, & Facebook.

Mike’s All American Grill
On my second night at the training I went with a group to Mike’s All American Grill. It was very busy so we sat at the high table by the bar. I started my meal with a Raspberry Lemon Drop that was exquisite. It was sweet and tart without being overpowering, and had sugar on the rim. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger (because they were out of Filet Mein Tips) for dinner and substituted a salad from the fries. They used thick strips of bacon that were cooked well but not burnt. The burger was juicy and the house sauce that was on it good. (I included a bonus photo of Susan's Warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding).
