I apologize for my long absence, getting acclimated to a new city and new job isn't easy. However, I really love Charlottesville and I'm looking forward to all of my food adventures here.
Anyway this week I was in DC at Green Dot Training. So the next few posts will be about DC restaurants.
I HAD to get a famous DC cupcake while I was in town. So I talked a few of my new training friends into standing in line for cupcakes with me. We got there about 45 minutes before they closed, and the line wasn't very long. But they were running out of cupcakes and they had an employee telling people that standing in line didn't guarantee them a cupcake. I was extremely lucky and got the last Vanilla Birthday Cupcake of the day.
The wait in line was worth it, and it's not just hype. It was one of THE BEST cupcakes I've ever had. It was clear from the full vanilla flavor that they used vanilla bean and not just extract (plus you could see the black specs). And the frosting was PERFECT, it wasn't too thick and the sweetness it had complimented the cake.
If you get the chance to stand in line for a DC cupcake you should, it'll be worth your while. If you want to know more about Georgetown Cupcake you can check out the website, Facebook, and Twitter.
Until your next bite.
